About the Central Business District
The central business district (CBD) in Mt. Lebanon is located on Washington Road, also known as State Route 19. In Mt. Lebanon, the CBD is generally known as "Uptown," a district composed of 41 commercial properties located between 733 and 600 Washington Road.
A lively and active traditional town center, Uptown offers visitors excellent restaurants, attractive and unique retail shops, and seasonal street festivals and weekly summertime farmers' market.
With both bus and LRT service by the
Port Authority of Allegheny County
the district provides ready transit access to downtown Pittsburgh and to the
and South Hills Village. Mt. Lebanon offers many clean and safe parking options, including the new 89-space pay-and-display lot on Academy Avenue, spaces in the North and South garages, as well as on-street metered parking.
The district is home to 182 businesses including 72 storefronts. The storefront vacancy rate is approximately 8%.

The CBD is the focus of Mt. Lebanon's Main Street Program, which manages the façade grant program. Between 2004 and 2012.
Other major projects on Washington Road include the recently completed Clearview Common, a $500,000 public investment that converted a surface parking lot to a beautiful public space; the $5 million renovation of the 1928 municipal building; a proposed hotel development by Kratsa Properties on the site of the Parking Authority's north lot, with an estimated project cost of $15 million; and a
transit district planning process
that will advance the eventual development of the air rights over the LRT station.
