Mt. Lebanon Municipality is seeking two qualified students who reside in Mt. Lebanon to serve as junior commissioners for the 2014-2015 school year.
Candidates must be rising juniors or seniors. Two students will be selected, one for each semester. The junior commissioner will attend public meetings each month. The student also will attend at least one board or authority meeting.
The goal of the program is to promote public service by allowing young people to see how local government works first-hand. It also provides an opportunity for two-way communication between high school students and their local government. Junior commissioners report on notable high school activities at each Commission meeting. They also report to their high school student council on municipal matters.
Interested students must fill out an application that can be downloadedand submit it by July 15 to: Susan Morgans, Mt. Lebanon Municipality, 710 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
The Commission will interview the candidates and make the appointments prior to the start of the school year. For more information, students may contact Morgans at 412-343-3780,email@example.com.
